Rob Vetter, Virtual Art Show, April 14 - May 13, 2020

Welcome! Like many other businesses, the pandemic and lockdown led us to utilize our website in a way we had not anticipated -- as a gallery space. The Virtual Art Space started in April 2020, and featured artists and artisans we've had in our brick and mortar stores for years, as well as some new-to-KOBO artists too. This page is an archive of the show as it originally exhibited. Moving forward, art shows will still be featured on online, but as mandates go away and we are all feeling safer, we will be inviting the public to come see the show in-person at one or both of our locations. Rob Vetter's New Work, the inaugural show in KOBO's Virtual Space, was a timely reminder of the sublime beauty and appreciation of landscape, and all while we Stay Safe. Thank you, Rob for sharing your art, your vision, your work with us. The following is meant to be an archive of the show.

From childhood, Rob Vetter admired the ability to summon beauty and the carefree perfection of landscape painters. From the watercolors of Seaview, Washington’s Charles Mulvey, to the California paintings of Russell Chatham, to the entire output of the revered and visionary Canadians, the Group of Seven, Rob was raised on landscapes. If, in his own work, he has eschewed the quest for perfection, Rob still aspires to beauty - and occasionally achieves it, often on a very small scale. Lately, he has focused on scenes from Whatcom and Skagit counties. Rob lives in Bellingham.
