Hariko Tiger 13 - Kagawa

Vintage Tai Mingei

The "Hariko Tiger" is a traditional craft from the Nishisan region of Kagawa, long cherished as a talisman to pray for children's healthy growth. It is designated as a traditional craft of Kagawa Prefecture and is meticulously handmade using traditional materials, specifically washi paper.

Among the two shops in Mitoyo City that produce Hariko Tigers, the "Tai Mingei" tiger stands out with its unique facial features. The black stripes extending from the forehead to the cheeks and mouth give it an appearance that resembles a human face more than a tiger.
