大道無門 Dai Do Mu Mon, “Great Path, No Gate” 2

This text is excerpted from a classic Buddhist poem by the Chinese Master Wumen Huikai 無門慧開 1183-1260), (Japanese; Mumon Kan無門関) published in his book, The Gateless Gate in 1228. The volume is a collection of 48 of his koans, teaching questions, and commentaries by others. It is considered a central work in the Buddhist cannon.

The great path has no gates,
Thousands of roads enter it.
When one passes through this gateless gate
He walks freely between heaven and earth.
