Heiando Japanese Lacquerware Tiered Box - Akikusa

The design on this accessory case is "Akikusa", or "Fall grass" in Japanese. The swayed pampas grass are known as one of the seven herbs for fall. They are also a traditional offering for Japanese moon gazing. It can also be a great gift for someone who has a birthday or anniversary in fall. Urushi (lacquer) is a 100% ecological coating made from the Rhus Verniciflua tree sap mixed with mineral-based pigments. Hand painted on lid features maki-e (gold gilding )ultra fine gold powder over wet lacquer.

Care instructions:
To restore luster, polish with a soft dry cloth, and if necessary a drop or two of vegetable oil. Avoid direct sunlight, heaters, excessive moisture.
