Kris Marubayashi

Kris Marubayashi is a sansei (third generation Japanese-American) woman, living in California, who returned to clay after a break of thirty years. Kris creates pieces that are highly textural, often resembling rocks, geological formations, and metal. While currently working in clay, she is experimenting with adding cement to paper clay in order to create pieces that are strong, light, and unrestrained in size.

Kris has participated in both the 2013 and 2014 American Crafts Council show in San Francisco, and her work was selected both times for the designer-created mini-rooms.
